    Identify Your Identity

    in General Access

Everything from society, ethnicity, culture, location, opportunities, media, personal interests, self-expression, and experiences to family and friends impact the formation of identity. With all that is incorporated into a state of being, it becomes apparent that all of these factors are not within our control. We are born with set identifying characteristics like race, sex, and ethnicity. Variables such as society, culture, media, and accessible opportunities tend to be limited to what our immediate environment has to offer. Personal interests and self-expression is all that we may elect to modify about our identities.

Ask yourself who you are and consider all the factors previously mentioned. Hard truth, you are already who you are. There is still time to redeem yourself if you are not who you want to be. As you know, there isn't any available option to take on a new or better identity. You are stuck with a great amount of who you are, so my advice is to embrace and appreciate it. The qualities about yourself that don't appeal to you are very much apart of your unique identity. Another hard truth, we aren't all privileged to stand firm in our identity. We must have compassion for those struggling to find themselves or accept their identity. Let's uplift and embrace one another.
